Different Ways to Structure Your Content
Structuring your content helps the user predict where the information they are looking for easily. It helps them to get an understanding of the logic of grouping the information.
It is essential to have a good structure because nobody has time to figure out to find the buried information on a confusing page. They will simply leave your website and look for the information on another page immediately. The better you structure your content, the more satisfied users.
There are 3 main structure types when it comes to organizing your content: Hierarchical, Sequential, and Matrix.
1- Hierarchical
This type is essentially based on Gestalt psychological theory. The main goal here is to present content in such a way that users can understand the level of importance for each element. It enables users to distinguish objects based on their physical differences such as size, color, contrast, and alignment.

2- Sequential
This kind of structure is mostly used where users are set up to complete a task which can be purchasing an item. The focus here is to give a guide and create a path for the user.

3- Matrix
In this type, you give users the choice of how to navigate through the website. Since we are giving some options, it could get a bit complicated. So, it is important to communicate these aspects clearly. Content could be divided into these schemes:
Alphabetical: This would work best if the users know what they’re looking for and know how to describe or name the object of the search.
Audience: This type aims to organize the content that would be suitable for that specific target group. For example, the information could be divided according to the age and country of that user or skill level on the topic.
Chronological: In this type, the content is simply organized by date and time. It can be used where there are a lot of content and the publish date matters in terms of accuracy.
Topic: Here, content is organized according to the specific subject. Usually, tv shows, games, and books are divided in this certain way.
